An Inconvenient Truth or a Convenient fiction

Al Gore's award-winning movie An Inconvenient Truth is not without its critics.

REF is hosting an evening with Matt Gray trained by Al Gore to respond to discussion about the movie.

Steve Hayward is a member of the American Enterprise Institute. He agrees with some points raised by Al Gore but disagrees significantly on the extent of the potential impacts of global warming. His film An Inconvenient Truth or a Convenient Fiction is only available for viewing on the internet.

I have posted this because I feel memgvbers ought to be aware that there are opposing views on climat chamge. I believe it would be worth viewing this prior to the REF Climate Change Project meeting at the Redcliffe Cultural Centre at 4.30pm for 5.30pm July 7 ( Admission $5 )

The movie can be found at the following locations:

Monitoring 01-04-07

Thanks to Chris, Trish, Sandy and Katie who joined David in sloshing around the rocks at Woody Point and the mud at Hays Inlet this afternoon.

Thanks also to Peg for supervising at Woody Point.

As with our last survey in 2006, we found that the 'low' tide was not low enough and the water was too deep to survey the outermost site. All other sites were readily accessible.

The Hays Inlet site seemed to have changed significantly as mud deposits had moved but a pool roughly in the same place was accessed. There was plenty of life in the pool as well as a quantity of fishing line which was removed.

Katie on her first outing with REF discovered a blue-ringed octopus in a pool. The following photos are added so you can find it too.

As Katie remarked, 'It is amazing that something so small can kill you.'

It is also amazing how difficult they can be too see!
